Blood tests are done Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 09.20 AM until 12.
Samples include blood tests, urine tests, swabs, and stool samples.
For GMS/DVC patients, there is a small administration fee, which includes transportation of the bloods done in the surgery, or a form can be given, and the test can be done in the hospital with no charge, or you can get them done in the surgery free of charge and transport them yourself to the Mater Hospital.
Private patients will be charged for blood tests.
Routine screening blood tests at the patient's request and bloods ordered by the public hospital will be charged at a private rate.
Private hospital/clinic bloods: ask at reception for the price.
Fasting is sometimes required for a blood test related to: Cholesterol, sugar for diabetes, and some iron tests.

Result take approximately a week to come back and be reviewed by the doctor.
Patients are all advised to call the surgery if there has been no contact by medical staff. Do not assume your results are fine if you have heard nothing, although no news is usually good news, it is important to check.
If any follow-up is needed regarding your results either the nurse or your doctor will contact with advice or follow up instructions.
